Hi -

In the section in chapter 1 where you’re describing how to add the Top Story status and setting its order to 2, it actually doesn’t show up in the 2nd row for me until I edit the order # of the Closed status (it initially shows up as the 3rd row). Actually, I think it’s kind of a bug in EE to not always maintain unique order numbers. In any event, very minor. Thought you might like to know.

Yep, I’ve seen that with other re-orderable Control Panel Admin items such as Custom Fields. You can assign multiple fields the same appearance order on the entry form with no feedback that requires a unique number.

Ah, now I see what you are referring to. Yes, I’ve seen that before and you could easily create a dozen statuses or custom fields and have them all use the same orderby number. I’m not sure the reasoning behind it but EE should always order them by creation order (their actually id in the database), I believe.
