Some ideas for the series

Great work with everything so far Ryan.. I didn’t expect me to really find much information from what I already didn’t know, but you’ve brought to attention to things I certainly overlooked and underestimated in practicality or usage. That being said, I was hoping in future discussions you could do some more advanced tutorials with conditionals to display dynamic content and also on how one might be able to use them in addition to segments to make some dynamic templating that might not require us to embed common elements so often. Thanks for the great stuff so far. Really looking forward to the future ones. |

Thanks for the feedback, Danny. I’m glad you found some helpful information in the screencasts.
I do have plans to some advanced screencasts. I first wanted to fill the void of beginner’s information before jumping into the advanced stuff. As far as building dynamic templates that don’t require so many embedded elements, are you thinking along the lines of one or two über templates that handle several different views? |

My two cents:
This is a ripe subject, hopefully you’ll keep publishing these bad boys. |

This is a really great series Ryan! I’ve bought episode 1-4 so far, and will definately be buying the rest! I do however have a suggestion for a screencast I would like to see… I’m planning an online magazine using ee, and would really like an episode of how to make the site issue based. Like a new issue for every month. And also within that, I would like to break each issue into pages. So a screencast about such an endeavour would really go home with me. Anyway, thanks for the great episodes so far! Look forward to the rest of them! |

Phil, check out the latest episode, Episode 9. I deal with creating “issues” in the episode. It’s done using related entries. :) |

Oh! Will do, to be honest haven’t gotten an episode, but I will add that to my list for tomorrows purchases! I think the videos will be perfect for the Plane to london and I can get some work done at the same time XD. Thank you!!! |

Great series! The screencast format is a great way to learn. I am referring to them much more than my dusty book collection. It would be useful to release a time code for each episode (e.g. 3:10 – Adding categories, 7:25 – Editing Categories). That way, I could more easily reference specific material for future viewing. All good books have good indexes. The time coding would act as an index for the screencasts. The time coding could also be posted on your site for prospective buyers to view. |

Thanks for the feedback, Chuck. Do you think adding chapters to the video files would help? I wasn’t sure if this was needed at first and I think it’s limited to Quicktime only. |

I’d like to piggyback on Chuck’s feedback re: adding chapters to video files. That would be a tremendous help, especially for those of us who don’t watch an entire video in one sitting. |

Thanks, Cecily. It’s something we considered but we weren’t sure it was necessary. Now that we’re receiving feedback on it, I hope we can implement it in the future. |
