Hosting suggestions...

This may be out the scope of this forum, but I’d like to get some opinions. I’d like to suggest alternative hosting to one of my clients. I’ve sold him on the greatness of Expression Engine, bad thing is he’s currently on GoDaddy. I ran wizard.php and GoDaddy unsurprisingly doesn’t have URL Segment Support. On top of all the other <sarcasm> wonderful </sarcasm> things I’ve heard about GoDaddy I would like to transfer the domain. So… Any suggestions? I’m currently thinking DreamHost (I know they have their issues too) or Engine Hosting (a bit pricey). Thanks for any recommendations! |

Hey Brad. Hosting is a tricky situation and I’m always hesitant to give suggestions. :) I personally use Slicehost and really like it. It’s not full of fancy tools and you’re responsible for configuring and maintaining your own virtual server. I think DreamHost is a fine host for many situations and I know several people who have the knowledge and skills to maintain their own server opt for Dreamhost because of cost and ease of use. I, personally, would stay away from GoDaddy for hosting. HTH! |

Hosting is a very loaded topic and everybody has different needs. Enginehosting (I haven’t used them) specializes in EE FWIW. |
