Engine City Times...is it a blog

Please forgive me if this is a silly question but I have done some of the Boyink tutorials and on his site he walks the user through making a site that utilizes many similar techniques to Ryan’s. What I have noticed is that Boyink also teaches how to build a Blog into the site. So my question is what is the difference between what Ryan taught and Boyink? Is there more than one way to build a blog? Or is the Blog built on Boyink’s site got something different? At first glance they look to be multiple ways to accomplish the same thing? Thanks for your feedback…loking forward to hearing what people think about this one…especially the folks over at Pragmatic. (also is it possible to have a lesson about how to allow users to preview their posts and be emailed when someone replies?) |

Hi, Josh. Thanks for the question.
Everyone has different techniques but there is basically only one way in EE to build a blog. It’s the same way we built the sections for the Engine City Times website, except the layout is different. If you took the Just for extra information, the idea behind building a non-blog site for this screencast series was to demonstrate that EE isn’t just a blogging tool and to help people use it in for “normal” content websites. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I wasn’t clear! :) |

Ryan, Thank you for the response and your attention to the discussion board. I like your approach to the series. Between the resources you have provided and those of Boyink I am getting the hang of this! Thanks, |
