Hello, thank you for these nice screencasts. Getting Ryan Bates for it is nice! I have one problem with them, though. I was not able to play them with anything, but Quicktime in Windows. As my development machine is running Linux, this bugs me quite a lot. I think it has to do with the fact, that there are two separate audio streams, one for the intro and one for the video. Either I get no synchronization or the players die a fast and horrible death. One suggestion: Everyday Active Record to me means more than just rails, I use it in standard ruby scripts, too! I think, this might be interesting to some people. Thanks |

Interesting. Do you have the same problem with Railscasts episodes? (http://railscasts.com). I believe they use the same encoding. Also you might want to try downloading the iPod/iPhone version which may be able to play in other players. Let us know how it goes. |

Hi, sorry, but I was away and without internet. Your Railscasts work fine, but they only have one audio stream, not one for the intro and one for the screencast itself. That is the problem I have. Picture is fine, AAC soundstream is fine, but changing it midmovie gives problems. I have played around a bit, mplayer now starts with the screencast sound and immedialtely seeing it is out of sync, it jumps over the intro. So I now have a working solution, that is just fine. Thank you very much P.S.: |

Yeah. I’m also having trouble. My MacBook is trashed at the moment and I saw this thread and so decided to try the free introduction on my Linux box before plunking down five bucks. Good thing I did. I couldn’t get it to play properly in either of the three players on my Ubuntu Hardy box: VLC, Mplayer and Totem. |

@Yitzak: It won’t work for Linux out of the box, as you need the Win32Codecs, without those you won’t be able to see anything. That codec is neither as complete as the up to date codecs nor as stable, but better than nothing. Ciao |
