Hi, how experienced will a programmer need to be to use this book? Will I need to know objective-c beforehand?

Our working philosophy has been that anyone familiar with a curly-brace language should be able to keep up, provided we give the appropriate level of prompting and explanation. We didn’t want to say “go read some books on Obj-C and Cocoa and come back and we’ll tell you what does and doesn’t apply.” I’d say we’re mentally targeting the everyday C / C++ / C# / Java programmer, and it’s likely that Python and Ruby programmers will be able to follow the concepts just fine.

That’s great !

I’m a Ruby developer and don’t want to read a book on MacOS X software development/Obj-C to begin playing with the iPhone SDK. I know that I’ll have to learn Obj-C but want to discover it with iPhone development.

I’m really looking forward to your book.

Thanks,
Nicolas.
